Dragaljevac Monastery is located on the ninth kilometer from the main road Bijeljina-Brcko in the village of Gornji Dragaljevac. It was built in 1909, and the church dedicated to the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul is the fourth church in this place. It is believed that the first three were log cabins, similar to many in Serbia, and the construction of the first is related to the 15th century. The last church was built by Ivan Ton, the iconostasis was made in the workshop of Nikola Ivković in Novi Sad in 1908.
The bells of this church, which were made in Timisoara, are said to be the most famous in the area, sound and acoustic, and the people of this area believe that they have the power to prevent weather disasters because the city has never done damage in Dragaljevac. The church is an imitation of the pathos of the Church of St. Sophia in Constantinople.
The church itself is cruciform, and the complete temple was built in the spirit of Serbian-Byzantine architecture. The church was painted in 1954 by the Czech Karlo Macek. Next to the church is a small house that dates back to Turkish times and served as a residence for the faithful. The renovation of this church is in progress, and a new konak has been built.
Throughout the year, Bijeljina hosts numerous sports, cultural, fair, ethno, rural and gastronomic events that play a major role in promoting the natural and cultural potential of Bijeljina.
